Why Choose The Manor Retirement Community?

By Frank Forsythe

As a senior citizen myself--married 51 years now--my wife and I have begun the early steps of looking at various retirement facilities for our needs, both physically and financially, and still within the Charlotte region. Here are things that stand out about The Manor:

· No buy-in fees! We can hold onto our nest egg ourselves.

· No entry fees, either. It’s month-to-month rentals. Only one year old, too!

· Manor apartments' utilities are included in the resident’s monthly rent, courtesy of the Manor.

· Age-in-place accommodations are pre-installed in every apartment, from the start.

· 16 security cameras throughout the entire property and monitored 24/7 on site.

· Top-quality retirement living with others of age-related interests and concerns.

The Manor in the Villages at Carolina Place provides the best low-cost quality of living at the region's best value without any doubt. Come see the place for yourself and you too will be thrilled and impress.

Summer Sing & Shout

(From the September, 2009 issue of Pineville Today)

A fun day was had by all who attended the "Summer Sing and Shout" Festival held for residents in the Village at Carolina Place, an active adult community comprised of The Dorchester, The Manor and The Cottages. The event, which took place at noon on July 22nd, featured a visit by Pineville Mayor, George Fowler, music by the banjo-strumming Jeff Whittington and his band, and a performance by 16 year old singing sensation Rachel Tripp. The Charlotte Senior Cheerleaders, pictured here, also added to the entertainment by performing several of their routines. Hot dogs with all the trimmings, along with watermelon and fresh-squeezed lemonade were served up to residents and guests while WBTV captured it all on film to be featured on the 6:00 p.m. news in an effort to show just how much fun seniors can have. "It's all about choices at our community and what a wonderful way you can choose to spend your day" said Program Director, Deana Bell.

Whatever You're Craving

Retirement community dining can seem monotonous, particularly when residents are required to commit to a prepaid meal plan, forcing the sacrifice of funds that have been previously committed to the senior home's meal of the evening in order to enjoy a home-cooked meal or dine out.

With a per-meal payment system, residents of The Manor never face such dilemmas, and a variety of available services and amenities make ease of both cooking in and dining out in Charlotte. Says one satisfied Manner resident: "With à la carte services, I can go out to eat on a whim, order a pizza or try a new recipe without worrying that a meal I paid for has gone uneaten in the dining room."

The condo-style apartments of The Manner are bright and airy, making for a spectacular dining environment. The designer kitchens, with custom cabinetry, granite countertops and Smart Reach® appliances, are a cook's dream. For those that need a boost of confidence prior to entering the kitchen, The Manor offers a variety of cooking classes that will leave dinner guests asking for seconds. The Manor gladly provides transportation to the many surrounding grocery stores and even offers a grocery delivery service, allowing residents more time to enjoy the many amenities available to active adults.

For those in the mood to dine out, The Manor also provides transportation service to and from the many desirable restaurants of South Charlotte. Among others, senior residents of The Manner enjoy Harper's, Waldhorn, Tony Romas, Bonefish Grill, Buca Di Beppo and Red Lobster, all within a stone's throw of the retirement community.

The Manor's Magnolia Room is difficult to pass up, however. Located on the senior home's gracious grounds, the restaurant-style dining facility serves a variety of entrees, all personally selected by a gourmet chef. For those with smaller appetites, vegetable plates and a soup and salad bar are available daily. Click here to visit this month's entree menu.
